A type family for newspapers

This typeface began as part of a typography and newspaper design project that culminated in the complete redesign of Hampshire College's official student newspaper, The Climax. I developed this text and display type family specifically for the project to address less-than-ideal layout and printing conditions that amateur publications face. It attempts to combine the economy, readability, and sturdiness of contemporary newspaper faces with the openness and rhythm of humanist types.

The family soon expanded with the addition of a distinctive italic, a bold weight, and optical sizes for text, headlines, and titling. I am currently working on a variant optimized for bookwork. Each style includes small capitals, special characters, and both lining and old-style figures. Its character set encompasses most Western and Central European languages.
