Description
Custom type and lettering projects tend to be especially exciting and challenging because the design problem is so focused and the solution so specific. I have done custom type and lettering for a few local theatrical productions and posters, and have used these opportunities to familiarize myself with new lettering styles. Additionally, the Climax typeface was originally developed for Hampshire College's official newspaper.

The Reincarnation of Jaime Brown, UMass Theatre
This lettering was based on a specimen by British typefounder Vincent Figgins. I invented the extending terminals and overlaps to give the title a more playful look.
Hotzmakh's Shpiel, Hampshire College Theatre
I worked from what I knew about Hebrew calligraphy to come up with this title, which reads "Hotzmakh's Shpiel." I tried to recapture the feeling of old Yiddish theatre posters while emphasizing the play's fairy-tale aspect.
